Hale Hoapili Le'ale'a is situated on one wooded, private acre, just a five minute walk from beautiful and historic Kealakekua Bay. The Bay is a marine preserve and underwater wildlife park, with crystal clear water and an abundance of live coral, tropical reef fish, sea turtles and the famous spinner dolphins, providing the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the Hawaiian Islands. In addition, the warmth and gentleness of the water allows for excellent swimming and kayaking year-round. Historically, the bay is most famous as the site where Captain James Cook anchored on his last visit to Hawaii, and where he perished in 1779. Kealakekua Bay is a 45 minute drive south of the Keahole Airport, and 30 minutes south of the resort town of Kailua-Kona.

The house has one large bedroom with a queen bed, one spacious bathroom, a full kitchen with all amenities and appliances, and a 'great room' with a deep verandah that wraps around three sides of the home, providing a large indoor/outdoor living area elevated 20 feet from the ground. The elevation provides for a lovely view of the bay and the surrounding mountain with its long, sloping ridge dropping to form the north rim of the bay. In the great room there is also a double 'hikie', or Hawaiian couch, that can sleep two more people. In addition there is a large hot tub off the bedroom, a washer and dryer, TV/VCR and a stereo system with CD player. The home is beautifully appointed with hand crafted koa wood furnishings, wood and ceramic tile flooring, original artwork, and many other special features.

This vacation home can accommodate up to 4 people and rents for $1600-1750/week, depending on occupancy and time of year. For stays of less than one week there is a four-night minimum, with a nightly rate of $250-300, again depending on occupancy and time of year. In addition to the two taxes below, there is a security deposit of $300 and an outcleaning fee of $120.

TAXES:
Rates are subject to two Hawaii taxes totaling 11.416%: General Excise Tax ( GET ) of 4.166%; and Transient Accommodations Tax ( TAT ) of 7.25% .

RESERVATIONS:
A 50% deposit is due within 14 days of the reservation, with the balance payable 30 days prior to arrival. Payments may be by check, money order, MasterCard or Visa.

CANCELLATIONS:
Cancellation with 60 or more days notice will result in a refund of monies paid, minus a 10% cancellation fee. With less than 60 days notice, refunds will be based solely on the ability to rebook the reserved dates; again minus the cancellation fee.
